San Antonio - Trinity senior Paxton Deuel has been selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Deuel went 2-0 in singles, and 3-0 in doubles last week over the 12th-ranked Tigers three home matches. Trinity started by edging #19 Gustavus Adolphus (MN) College 5-4, and then lost a 6-3 battle to 13th-ranked Washington (MO) University. The Tigers finished the week with a 9-0 victory over the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
The talented Deuel won No. 1 singles against Gustavus Adolphus and Washington. He sat out singles play in the match with Mary Hardin-Baylor, but won all three top doubles matches with sophomore Matt Tyer. Deuel stands at 9-5 this season in singles, and is 3-0 in doubles with Tyer.
Trinity is sporting a 12-9 overall record, and is 10-5 against NCAA Division III opponents. The Tigers wrap up their regular-season home schedule with three matches the weekend of April 15. First up will be #29 University of Texas-Tyler on Friday, April 15. Trinity will then host #14 Whitman (WA) College and Schreiner University on Sunday, April 17.
