Box Score Huntsville, Texas - Individuals from Trinity's men's and women's track & field teams enjoyed strong performances in their final tune-ups before the NCAA Championships.
"Everyone did well today at the meet," said Assistant Coach Todd Wildman. "Our athletes competed well, and were in positions to improve their current rankings on the national list."
Britney Sullivan recorded a mark of 11.78 meters in the women's triple jump to lead the small, but talented field of Tigers competing at the Sam Houston Last Chance Meet. She improved her national standing from 14th to 12th place in the NCAA Division III rankings.
Cody Hall ran the men's 110-meter hurdles in 14.69 seconds, just .03 seconds from equaling his personal-best. Hall also posted a mark of 6.51 meters in the long jump. Matt Love threw the discus 45.18 meters.
Also this weekend, Michael Erickson competed in the Dr. Keeler Invitational at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. Erickson ran the men's 1,500 meters in 4:02.87. He finished 29th in a field of 78 runners, and is currently ranked 29th in the nation.
"Michael is 29th in the nation," said Coach Emily Daum, who is the head coach for cross country, and serves as a distance coach for track & field. "He had a rough race, but it was a great learning experience for him. He's looking forward to some time off, and getting prepared for cross country."
The Tigers now await possible bids to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, to be held May 26-29 at Waverly, Iowa.
