Box Score San Antonio - Trinity sophomores Britney Sullivan, Cody Hall, and Matt Love have been selected for the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
The trio will represent the Tigers May 26-28 at Waverly, Iowa. Wartburg College will serve as the host institution.
"I'm so proud of this group," said Head Coach Marcus Whitehead. "They have worked extremely hard this year, and really earned their trip to Waverly. This will be Britney's third trip to nationals, and even though she is a sophomore, she has a ton of experience, and knows what to expect on Saturday. Cody is a well-rounded athlete, that, down the road, may qualify for multiple events at nationals. He really deserves to be in this field, and he was a very consistent performer this season. Matt finally had a big throw at the Augustana Last Chance Meet. I couldn't be happier for him, as he has put in the work, and has been steady all season long. He really has had an improved mindset this season, that has helped him the most. Honestly, all three of these athletes are just scratching the surface of their potential. If they have fun and compete, good things are going to happen next week."
Sullivan will compete in the women's triple jump May 28, in the preliminaries and finals. She is seeded 15th in the field, with a jump of 11.78 meters. Sullivan earned the mark last week at the Sam Houston State University Last Chance Meet in Huntsville, Texas. The Waverly meet will mark the third NCAA Championship competition for Sullivan, who finished 13th in the triple jump earlier this season at the Indoor Nationals. Last year, Sullivan qualified in her specialty event at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, finishing in 19th place.
Hall is seeded 14th in the men's 110-meter hurdles, with a qualifying time of 14.52 seconds. The event is slated for May 27-28, with the prelims and finals taking place on subsequent days. Hall placed third at the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse NCAA qualifier, where he ran his personal-best race in the 110 hurdles.
Love will compete in the men's discus on May 26. He broke his personal-best performance with a mark of 48.98 meters at the Augustana College Twilight in Augustana, Illinois. Love enters the NCAAs ranked 18th nationally.
