Box Score Austin, Texas - Trinity's men's and women's track & field teams more than held their own at the Longhorn Invitational on Saturday, hosted by the University of Texas.
Competing against athletes preparing for the Big 12 Championships, and the Olympic Trials, Trinity's standouts were in the hunt from start to finish at Mike A. Meyers Stadium. Heading the list was Cody Hall, who placed fifth in the men's 110-meter hurdles. Hall ran a personal-best time of a wind-aided 14.62 seconds. He was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles, at 55.38 seconds. Adam Saunders won his section in the 200 meters, with a time of 22.24 seconds, near his personal-best mark. Matt Love placed fifth in the discus, with a throw of 46.69 meters.
Nkolika Nweke completed the women's 100 meters in 12.32 seconds, running close to her season-best time. Abigail Schneebeck finished the 100-meter hurdles in 15.56 seconds. Katie Groke placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:06.21), and Schneebeck was right behind her teammate, crossing the finish line in 1:06.68. Mariana Sigala was a fourth-place finisher in the 800 meters, at 2:19.41.
Meanwhile, Britney Sullivan represented Trinity Friday night at the Tom Tellez Invitational, held at the University of Houston. Sullivan posted a mark of 11.67 meters in the women's triple jump.
Men's distance runner Michael Erickson will travel to Naperville, Illinois, next weekend for the Dr. Keeler Invitational. A number of Tiger athletes will participate at the Sam Houston State University Last Chance Meet in Huntsville, Texas. Qualifiers will compete May 26-28 at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Waverly, Iowa.
