Box Score San Antonio - The Trinity men's and women's track & field teams received high honors from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Head Coach Marcus Whitehead and his assistant coaches were named the SCAC Track & Field Men's and Women's Staff of the Year. Senior Bailey Drury was selected as the SCAC Women's Track Athlete of the Year for the second straight time, and sophomore Britney Sullivan was tabbed as the Women's Field Athlete of the Year.
The Tiger men and women repeated as SCAC Track & Field champions, in the meet held in April at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas. Trinity's men captured their fourth consecutive title, and the women won their second in a row.
It marked the fourth straight time the Tiger coaches were named the Men's Staff of the Year. Trinity's mentors won the Women's Staff of the Year honor for the second time in a row, and third in the last four seasons. In addition to Coach Whitehead, the staff consists of Emily Daum, Lauren Reich, Thomas Dimitri, Todd Wildman, and Joe Meno.
Drury won the 400-meters individual title at the SCAC meet, and was part of the championship 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relay teams. Sullivan captured the triple jump and long jump, and also ran the 4x100-meter relay.
Sullivan qualified in the triple jump for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Waverly, Iowa. She produced a mark of 11.77 meters, just shy of making the top-nine group. Sullivan also competed in the Indoor Championships at Grinnell, Iowa, and placed 13th in her signature event.
Both Sullivan and Drury were named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-South/Southeast Region Team. They qualified by attaining a top-five ranking in their events. Sullivan earned the slot through the triple jump, long jump, and 4x100-meter relay. Drury made the team with her performance in the relay event.
