Box Score San Antonio - Trinity senior Nkolika Nweke has been tabbed as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Female Character & Community Student-Athlete of the Week.
The conference honors the efforts of outstanding student-athletes who excel in their respective sports and serve their campus and community, and the track & field standout qualifies in all areas.
Nweke, who hails from Pearland, Texas, has volunteered for San Antonio's Habitat for Humanity with Trinity University Volunteer Action Community (TUVAC), a campus organization dedicated to service and outreach. Nweke also has participated in community outreach through Trinity Women in Science and Technology. The psychology and pre-dental major and her colleagues visit grade schools to tutor and mentor young girls interested in the field of science.
On the track, Nweke is Trinity's record-holder in the 100 and 200 meters. She is also part of the Tigers' 4x100-meter relay team, which is ranked first in the school's all-time record book.
Nweke qualified for the 2017 NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships at Geneva, Ohio, where she placed 16th in the 100 meters race. The talented Nweke has been a strong contributor to Trinity's women's track & field team, which has captured three consecutive Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships.
