San Antonio - Trinity's track & field team members more than made their mark Thursday and Friday at the UIW Cardinal Quadrangle, held at the University of the Incarnate Word.

HIGHLIGHTS

In the women's events, Nkolika Nweke established a school record in the 100 meters, placing second with a time of 12.08 seconds. Nweke also ran a season-best 25.42 seconds in the 200 meters. Katie Groke ran the 400 meters in 59.28 seconds, for a season-best time.

Matt Love emerged as the champion of men's discuss, beating out scholarship and unattached athletes. Love posted a mark of 47.93 meters, more than two meters better than his closest competitor.

Trent Walker set two personal bests at the meet. Walker placed second in the men's 110-meter hurdles (15.58 seconds), and ran the 400 hurdles in 58.91 seconds. Raphael Martin had a PR in the 200 meters, at 22.66 seconds.

Michael Erickson placed third in the 800 meters, and teammate Elliot Blake came in fourth. Jacob Hammond was a fourth-place finisher in the 3,000 meters.

UP NEXT

Team members will compete in two meets on Friday, March 24. Some of the Tigers will head to Abilene, Texas, for the McMurry War Hawk Classic. A group of Trinity student-athletes will also participate in the Victor Lopez Classic in Houston, Texas.
