Lambeth Named ITA West Region Men's Player to Watch

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

San Antonio- Trinity sophomore Wilson Lambeth has been selected as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III West Region Men's Player to Watch.

Lambeth and  Matt Tyer received a bid earlier this month to compete in the NCAA Division III Men's Doubles Championship to be held May 25-27 at Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Tiger duo, ranked #1 in the ITA West Region, posted a 14-12 record in the top doubles position. Last October, Lambeth and Tyer reached the doubles final of the ITA Oracle Cup at Surprise, Arizona. The Trinity tandem qualified by winning the Regional Doubles Championship.

Lambeth, who is ranked 18th in West Region singles, registered a 13-13 record in dual matches during the season. His mark includes a 9-8 tally at the #2 singles position. He earned All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference honors for the second consecutive year in both singles and doubles. Additionally, Lambeth was selected for the SCAC All-Tournament Team.

Led by eighth-year Head Coach Russell McMindes, Trinity won the SCAC Championship for the eighth consecutive year, which has also allowed them to advance to the NCAA Division III Championships. Trinity defeated 14th-ranked Whitman (WA) College in the NCAA second round in Claremont, California, but then lost 5-0 to #3 host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in the third round. The Tigers finished their campaign with a 17-11 dual-match record.
