Lambeth and Tyer Advance in NCAA Doubles Playoffs

Chattanooga, Tennessee - Trinity's Wilson Lambeth and Matt Tyer advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Doubles Championship.

 

HIGHLIGHTS

Lambeth and Tyer rallied Thursday to defeat the fourth-seeded team of Zachary Bessette and Jayson Fung of Amherst (MA) College 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the round of 16.

This event marks the first NCAA Championship event for both Lambeth and Tyer.

The Tiger tandem became the first Trinity men's doubles team to reach the quarterfinals since Bobby Cocanaugher and Cory Kowal achieved that feat in 2010.

The Trinity duo reached the Division III Doubles Championship match last fall of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Oracle Cup at Surprise, Arizona.

Earlier today, the ITA recognized Lambeth as the Division III National Player to Watch.

 

UP NEXT

Lambeth and Tyer meet Herman Abban and Pawel Jaworski of Carthage (WI) College in the quarterfinals at 4:30 p.m. EDT Friday. The semifinals and final are scheduled for Saturday.
