Track & Field Continues Indoor Season at Howie Ryan Invite

Houston, Texas – The Tiger men's and women's track & field teams continued the indoor season with outstanding performances at the Howie Ryan Invitational on Friday.

 

HIGHLIGHTS

The Tiger women were led by All-Americans Britney Sullivan and Molly McCullough, who put up season-best performances.

Sullivan finished fourth with her mark of 38-00.00 in the triple jump, while McCullough was fifth in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:31.85.

The men's team saw All-American Cody Hall finish sixth in the prelims of the 60 meter hurdles with his time of 8.47 seconds. He was 12th overall in the semifinals, despite dropping his time to tie his season-best at 8.31 seconds.

Jacob Hammond also had a top 10 performance for the Tiger men, finishing the 3,000 meter run in 8:54.14 to secure ninth place.

Four Trinity runners finished in the top 20 in the men's 200 meter dash, led by Raphael Martin's time of 23.36 seconds to land in 11th – a time that was nearly a second faster than his best this season.

Chris Stewart was just behind his teammate in 12th, while Romeo De Leon (14th) and Christian Matta (18th) rounded out the Trinity competitors.

Seve Rodriguez and Michael Erickson earned top-20 performances in the 400 meter dash and the 1-mile run, respectively. Rodriguez finished his lap in 51.98 seconds, while Erickson made four laps in just 4:30.70.

Jordan Juran finished 10th in the women's 1-mile event, clocking in at 5:18.18.

Nkolika Nweke was 10th in the prelims of the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.79 seconds, then repeated that time in the semifinals for a 12th-place finish.

Andy Garza (16th) and Abigail Schneebeck (20th) were both in the top 20 in the 400 meter dash, followed closely by Nweke in 22nd place.

Garza finished in 1:01.30 for her best time this season. Schneebeck was also 23rd in the prelims with her season-best time of 9.43 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles and 22nd in the semifinals.

Mia Loseff was 19th after clearing 10-02.00 in the pole vault, while Melissa Whitman was also 20th in the 3,000 meter run with her season-best time of 11:12.97.

Both Trinity teams will be back in action next weekend at the Texas A&M University Twilight meet in College Station, Texas, on Saturday, February 17.
