Box Score San Antonio – The Tiger men's and women's track & field teams hosted the Trinity Invitational on Saturday, putting together one of the best overall performances of the year.
HIGHLIGHTS
Trinity had several individuals post the best performances of the year, as well as two school records being broken during the meet.
Stella Affognon broke a 10-year-old record in the discus with her mark of 39.89 meters on Saturday. Jocelyn Stokes was the previous record-holder with a throw of 38.98 meters in 2008. Affognon was fifth in the discus and ninth in the shot put.
Cody Hall bested a nine-year-old record in the long jump, leaping past Todd Wildman's 2009 mark of 7.11 meters. Hall jumped 7.24 meters to finish second overall in today's event, but was first among collegiate competition.
Additionally, Hall also won the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.52 seconds and the high jump with a mark of 2.00 meters. Both are the best this season for the Tigers, and Hall's high jump mark is a career-best. It also puts him in a tie for third all-time at Trinity in the high jump.
Abigail Schneebeck also picked up a first place victory and season best performance in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.31 seconds.
Androniki Defteraios was eighth among collegiate runners in the 100 hurdles. Trinity had two other runners in the top 10 of the hurdles event, as Mia Loseff and Rylie Edwards were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Edwards was also second in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:09.05 and Loseff was third among college competitors with a mark of 3.25 meters in the pole vault.
Britney Sullivan won the triple jump with her Trinity season-best mark of 11.71 meters, and she also earned a third-place finish in the long jump.
Defteraios was sixth in the long jump, while Andy Garza and Triniti Lemmons were both in the top 10 in the triple jump as well.
Blair Walker raced to the finish in a Trinity season-best time of 49.72 in the 400 meter dash, placing third overall and first among college runners. Seve Rodriguez was just behind walker in a time of 49.92 seconds.
Michael Erickson led a Tiger group that took the top three spots in the 1500 meter run, finishing the event in 3:58.06. Jacob Hammond and Elliot Blake were both less than four seconds behind their teammate in second and third.
Naim Barnett took first in the triple jump with his mark of 13.61 meters, while David Buss won the 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 10:10.83. Buss also finished ninth in the javelin with a Tiger season-best throw of 40.84 meters.
Matt Love took second place in the discus, while Chris Stewart and Christian Matta both placed in the top 10 in the 100 meter dash.
Harry Bellow took second in the men's 800 meter run to place sixth in school history in the event. Benjamin Creasy was fifth, while Jordan Juran and Natalie Geisler were both in the top five in the women's 800 as well.
The Tiger women's team won the 4x400 meter relay in a season-best time of 4:05.36. Garza, Defteraios, Edwards, and Schneebeck made up the winning team.
The men's 4x400 meter relay team of Walker, Rodriguez, Raphael Martin, and Tee Hill took second place in a season-best time of 3:23.70.
Laura Taylor and Brianna Ratliff were both in the top five in the women's 1500 meter run, while Samantha Simank, Gabi Amaya, and Meghan Mardashti were all top five in the 5000 meter run.
Nkolika Nweke finished fourth among collegiate competitors with her time of 25.73 seconds in the 200 meter dash.
