Box Score Seguin, Texas – The Tiger women's track & field team won the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship for the fourth consecutive season, while the men's team was the runner-up for the second straight year.
HIGHLIGHTS
The Trinity women scored a total of 267.50 points, outdistancing host Texas Lutheran University by more than 60 points.
Trinity's men's team finished with a team score of 228 and finished behind Texas Lutheran's total of 280 points.
Both Tiger teams won 10 events total over the two-day event. The women won six events on Saturday, while the men's team secured nine victories.
Saturday's meet featured 18 Trinity women earning All-SCAC performances, while the men's team also produced 14 All-SCAC honorees by finishing in the top three.
Cody Hall was SCAC Male Athlete of the Meet for the third straight year after scoring the most points of any men's individual.
On Saturday, Hall won the long jump with a mark of 7.15 meters to break the SCAC record. It was his third consecutive win in the event. Teammate Griffin Lay finished fourth in the long jump.
Hall also won the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.74 seconds, which is the second-fastest time in conference history. He has the top two times in SCAC history over the past two seasons. Hall finished second for the second straight year in the high jump and was fifth in the men's 400 meter hurdles.
Trinity's 4x100 meter relay teams both broke school records on Saturday. The women's time of 47.93 seconds is also the second-fastest in SCAC history, while the men's time of 41.39 seconds is the second-best in conference history.
Nkolika Nweke, Britney Sullivan, Triniti Lemmons, and Elizabeth Peters comprised the women's team, which won the event for the fourth consecutive season.
Christopher Stewart, Christian Matta, Raphael Martin, and Blair Walker made up the winning men's team.
Nweke also won the 100 meter dash for the fourth consecutive season, posting the third-fastest time in SCAC history. She was second in the 200 meter dash for the second straight year and also won the event in 2015 and 2016.
Elizabeth Peters was All-SCAC in both the 100 and 200 meter races for the second consecutive season, finishing third in both events this year. Androniki Defteraios and Lemmons were fourth and fifth in the 200 meter dash to give Trinity four of the top five in the event.
Matta posted a time of 10.76 seconds in the men's 100 meter dash, which is the third-fastest time in the SCAC and also puts him third in school history. Matta also earned All-SCAC honors by finishing second in the 200 meter dash. His win in the 100 was the first for a Tiger men's runner since 2015.
Trinity's women swept the 100 meter hurdles for the second straight season. Abigail Schneebeck won for the second year in a row, followed by Defteraios and Mia Loseff. Rylie Edwards was fifth to give Trinity four of the top five finishers.
Schneebeck also won the 400 meter hurdles with the third-fastest time in SCAC history, which also moves her to second on Trinity's all-time list.
Schneebeck and Andy Garza went first and second for the second straight season in the 400 hurdles, and Schneebeck was also third in 2016 to give her three All-SCAC performances in this event for her career.
In the high jump, Defteraios finished in third place to garner All-SCAC accolades, followed closely by Scheebeck in fourth. Defteraios was also fourth in the women's long jump.
Garza secured the fourth straight Trinity win in the 400 meter dash, and her time of 58.92 seconds puts her fifth in Trinity's record book.
The Tigers had an outstanding day in the 5,000 meter run on both the men's and women's side. Elliot Blake and Jacob Hammond finished first and second in the men's race. Blake won for the second straight time, which is the sixth consecutive Trinity win in the event. Hammond also finished third in 2016 to earn All-SCAC honors for the second time in three years.
The women's 5,000 meter run saw Trinity take each of the top four spots, marking the first All-SCAC sweep for the Tigers since 2013. Emma MacEachern won the event, which is Trinity's first win since 2014 on the women's side. Brianna Ratliff was second, followed by Laura Taylor and Melissa Whitman in third and fourth.
Michael Erickson won the men's 1500 meter run for the second straight year and earned All-SCAC honors in the event for the third time in his career. It marks the fifth straight win in the 1500 for the Trinity men's team.
Molly McCullough was second in the women's 1500, earning All-SCAC honors for the second straight season in the event. Natalie Geisler finished fourth for the Tiger women.
Harry Bellow was also second in the men's 1500, while Blake finished fifth for the men to give the Tigers three of the top five performances.
Trinity's men nabbed four of the top five spots in the 800 meter run. Bellow took the gold to ensure a sixth consecutive Tiger victory in the event, followed by Colton Hawkins in third, Erickson in fourth, and Benjamin Creasy in fifth. Natalie Geisler was fourth to lead the Tiger women in the 800.
Sullivan finished second in the long jump for the second straight season, and she also won the event in 2015 and 2016 to earn All-SCAC honors during all four years of her collegiate career.
Matt Love won the men's discus for the third time in his career and is a four-time All-SCAC honoree in the discus, finishing second in 2016.
Walker moved to third in school history after finishing fourth in the men's 400 meter dash, while Seve Rodriguez was fifth at the SCAC meet and is now seventh in the Trinity record book.
The Tiger men's relay team of Rodriguez, Raphael Martin, Tee Hill, and Walker finished as the runner-up in the 4x400 meter relay to garner All-SCAC honors.
Garza, Defteraios, Claire Rettenmaier, and Schneebeck were third in the women's 4x400 meter relay to earn All-SCAC recognition.
David Buss led Trinity in the javelin by finishing fifth, followed closely by Stephen Ford in sixth place.
Stella Affognon was eighth in the women's javelin and sixth in the discus on Saturday.
