Tiger Doubles Team and Singles Individual Advance to Final Day

Abilene, Texas - A Trinity men's tennis doubles team advanced to the championship match and a singles player moved on to the semifinals Saturday at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southwest Championships.

 

HIGHLIGHTS

The top-seeded "A" Doubles team of Jordan Pitts and Wilson Lambeth will play in Sunday afternoon's championship match at McMurry (TX) University.

Pitts and Lambeth first defeated the #8 team of Alex Hunt and Nathaniel Schoendorf of Hardin-Simmons (TX) University 8-4 in Saturday's quarterfinals. The semifinals resulted in a victory for Pitts and Lambeth who beat their fifth-seeded teammates Artur Zigman and Cameron Krimbill 8-1. Pitts and Lambeth face Kenneth Hardy and Siddarth Kortikere of Austin (TX) College in the title matchup.

Zigman and Krimbill were 8-2 winners over fourth-seeded Hunter Bajoit and Vesko Lekovic of Southwestern (TX) University in the quarterfinals. Christian Settles and Lars Wiik lost a 9-8 (6) quarterfinals battle to McMurry's Carlos Martinez and Chase Daniell.

The second-seeded Pitts advanced to Sunday morning's "A" Singles semifinals with a straight-sets decision over #10 Dean Dulthummon of Southwestern in the quarterfinals. Pitts won his round-of-16 match with Tyer, as his teammate retired with the score tied at 2-2.

Pitts will take on the sixth-seeded Hunt of Hardin-Simmons in the semifinals.

Fourth-seeded Wilson Hamilton beat Settles in two sets in the round of 16, and lost in straight sets to the #12 Bajoit of Southwestern in the quarterfinals.

The eighth-seeded Lambeth fell in straight sets to #9 Joshua Bode of Concordia (TX) University in the third round.

#11 Jace Akagi-Okuma lost to Hunt in a three-set quarterfinals match.

The "A" Singles and Doubles champions advance to the ITA Cup October 11-14 at Rome, Georgia.

 

UP NEXT

The "A" Singles semifinals are set for 8:00 a.m. Sunday, with the championship slated for 11:00 a.m. The "A" Doubles Championship will be played at 1:30 p.m.
