Canepa and Cole Earn D3soccer.com Women's All-America Honors

San Antonio - Trinity junior Kristen Canepa and senior Chelsea Cole have received 2018 women's soccer All-America accolades for the second time.

The two Tiger standouts were tabbed for the D3soccer.com All-America Teams, as Canepa was elected to the First Team and Cole made the Third Team. Earlier, Canepa and Cole were selected for the United Soccer Coaches Division III Women's Soccer All-America First Team. Each player also achieved United Soccer Coaches All-West Region First Team kudos and were All-SCAC First Team recipients.

Canepa and Cole have also excelled in the classroom, as they were named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Women's Scholar All-America and Scholar All-West Region First Teams. Cole was also elected to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 8 Women's Soccer Team for the second consecutive occasion. Canepa and Cole were also members of the SCAC Academic Honor Roll.

A leader of Trinity's taut defense, Canepa was honored by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference as the Defensive Player of the Year. Canepa and her teammates posted 17 clean-sheet games and allowed only six goals during their 20 games. Offensively, Canepa scored three goals and produced a game-winner in the process.

Cole was designated as the SCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Year for the second straight time. She scored three goals in the Tigers' two SCAC Championship games and was selected as the Tournament Most Valuable Player. During the season, Cole led the team with 23 goals, along with eight game-winners. Coupled with nine assists, Cole amassed 55 points in her column. Over the course of her career, Cole accounted for 54 goals and tied Kelsey Falcone (2011-2014) for third place in Trinity's record books.

Guided by third-year Head Coach Dylan Harrison, the Tigers completed the season with a 17-2-1 overall record and a #18 ranking by D3soccer.com and United Soccer Coaches. Trinity posted a 13-0-0 conference mark for its 10th consecutive SCAC undefeated season and won their 10th consecutive SCAC Championship and the 23rd in program histoty. Coach Harrison was honored by his peers as the SCAC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year for the second time in a row.

After capturing the conference trophy in a matchup with Southwestern (TX) University, the Tigers advanced to their 10th consecutive NCAA Division III Championship and the 24th overall. Trinity opened the event in Abilene, Texas, and defeated Occidental (CA) College in the first round. Sixth-ranked host Hardin-Simmons (TX) University eliminated the Tigers in the second round.
