Box Score 2 Orlando, Florida - The 17th-ranked Trinity men's tennis team lost a hard-fought match 7-2 to #9 Wesleyan (CT) University Monday at the USTA National Campus.
HIGHLIGHTS
Wesleyan swept the doubles, but they had a battle on their hands. Wilson Hamilton and Christian Settles dropped the second line 8-4. Wilson Lambeth and Jordan Pitts were edged on the top line, as were Cameron Kimbrill and Artur Zigman on the third, each by scores of 8-7.
Pitts and Lambeth claimed the Tigers' only two victories by winning the respective Nos. 1 and 2 singles in straight sets.
Hamilton lost the first set of #3 singles 3-6, battled back to take the second 6-3, and came up short 9-11 in the third.
Jace Akagi-Okuma also played a three-setter on the fifth line. Akagi-Okuma lost the opening set 3-6, came back to take the second 6-3, and lost the third by the score of 6-10.
Krimbill lost #4 singles in straight sets, as did Tilden Oliver on the sixth line.
NOTABLES
Trinity now stands at 5-7 overall and is 4-2 against NCAA Division III opponents. Wesleyan improved its mark to 2-0.
Wilson Lambeth and Jordan Pitts are 9-3 in doubles after the tight loss. Wilson Hamilton and Christian Settles have a record of 6-2 as a tandem.
