San Antonio/La Jolla, California - The Trinity men's and women's track & field teams opened competition at the University of the Incarnate Word Invitational and the University of California-San Diego Triton Invitational on Friday.

HIGHLIGHTS

Stella Affognon was Trinity's lone competitor during Friday's action at the Triton Invitational, finishing less than one meter from her own school record with a throw of 40.81 meters in the discus.

The rest of today's standouts competed at the UIW Meet - some of which was hosted by Trinity.

First-year Simon Jernigan was the top Division III finisher in the 1,500 meter race in a time of 4:36.89.

Stephen Ford surpassed his personal record in the shot put with a mark of 11.37 meters, as well as set a new personal best with his mark of 33.97 meters in the hammer throw.

Jaelen Harris finished just 0.30 meters from his personal best in the long jump with a mark of 5.56 meters.

The Tiger women were outstanding in the 1,500 meters, finishing second through seventh. Trinity was led by Molly McCullough's team season-best time of 4:48.35 that was good enough for second amound Division III runners.

Mia Loseff fell just 0.25 meters short of her own school record in the pole vault on Friday.
