Box Score San Antonio – Trinity's 12th-ranked men's tennis team earned a pair of home wins on Friday, defeating Hardin-Simmons (TX) University 8-1 and Texas Lutheran University 9-0.
HIGHLIGHTS
Trinity improved to 9-6 overall and 8-1 against Division III opponents, and the Tigers have now won seven consecutive matches.
The Tigers began the afternoon with a doubles sweep over Hardin-Simmons, capped by a hard-fought 8-7 (7-5) win at line one by Christian Settles and Hao Nguyen.
Cal Hunter and Allen Song scored the first points for Trinity by winning #3 doubles, followed by Wilson Hamilton and Artur Zigman at line two.
Hamilton was the first singles point to come in at line two, winning 6-2, 6-2.
Jordan Pitts clinched the match with his 6-0, 6-1 win at the top line of singles.
Hao Nguyen made it a 6-0 lead for the Tigers at line three, but HSU got its lone point of the match with a three-set win at #4 singles. Artur Zigman and Austin Lee took wins at lines five and six to finish off the victory.
Trinity swept the doubles once again to start off the match with Texas Lutheran, winning all three matchups 8-0.
Settles and Nguyen were the first match to put points on the board, followed by Hunter and Song at line three. Pitts and Hamilton finished off the doubles sweep to put Trinity up 3-0.
Nguyen was also the first singles match to finish as he took a 6-0, 6-0 win at the top line.
Song clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win at line four, then the Tigers finished off the sweep with wins by Zigman, Hunter, Lars Wiik, and Lee.

Trinity returns to action next weekend in San Marcos, Texas. The Tigers will face off against East Texas Baptist University and Schreiner (TX) University on Saturday, March 7.
