SAN ANTONIO - The Trinity University men's swimming and diving team won their second dual meet of the season, defeating University of Texas Permian Basin by a score of 158-135.
Konstantine Partalas (San Antonio, Texas / Reagan) took second in the one and three meter dive with a scores of 286.80 and 259.20.
The Tigers started the meet off by taking first and second place in the 400 yard medley relay. The quartet of Matteo Lanzara (Moraga, Calif. / Campolindo), Kendal Southwell (Rio Rancho, N.M. / Calvert Online Academy), Caleb Manifold (Helotes, Texas / Homeschool) and Michael Kohl (Missouri City, Texas / Ridge Point) paced to a time of 3:33.42. The Tigers "B Relay" of Daniel Sarman (Austin, Texas / Vandergrift), Spencer Steward (Kearney, Mo. / Kearney), John Fontenot (Austin, Texas / St. Andrew's) and Grayden Nelson (San Antonio, Texas / San Antonio Christian) finished a little over a second behind the leading Tigers to claim second place with a time of 3:34.94.
Nathaniel Early (Austin, Texas / Westwood) took first place in the 200 yard freestyle by touching the wall in 1:43.52. Sarman also took second with a time of 1:46.13 in the 200 yard free.
Kohl sprinted to a first place finish in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 54.05. Southwell and Steward occupied the top two spots in the 100 yard breaststroke by posting times of 1:00.35 and 1:00.96 in a race where the two Tigers were neck and neck the entire race. Fontenot collected his lone individual win of the day in the 200 yard butterfly with a blazing time of 1:57.78.
Nolan Anthony (Missouri City, Texas / Missouri City) sprinted to his only first place finish of the day in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 21.65.
Early won his second individual race of the day by touching the wall in 49.12 in the 100 yard freestyle. Sarman and Lanzara took first and second place in the 200 yard backstroke with times of 1:57.74 and 1:58.90.
Southwell and Steward went toe-to-toe in the 200 yard breaststroke with Southwell racing to a first place finish after posting a final time of 2:12.26. Stewart was right behind him with a final time of 2:12.35.
Manifold and Ben Adams (Lubbock, Texas / Monterey) took first and third in the 100 yard butterfly with times of 52.31 and 55.88. Southwell finished third in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:04.47.
The Tigers finished the day off by taking second and third in the 400 yard freestyle relay.

The men will split up and send some swimmers and divers to the Division III Shootout in Chicago, Illinois and the remainder of the team to Colorado College on November 5-6 to compete with conference opponents.
