CHICAGO - The Men's Swimming and Diving team took a group of swimmers and one diver to the D3 Shootout, hosted by the University of Chicago. The Tigers were among six other strong swimming and diving programs. U Chicago, Washington University St. Louis, Pomona-Pitzer, Hope College, Swarthmore College,and Wabash College all competed in the meet. After day one, the Tigers of Trinity University are currently in fifth place with a score of 149. Washington University St. Louis sits atop the leaderboard with a team score of 215.
Nathaniel Early (Austin, Texas / Westwood) set a new school record in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:39.96 which was just 0.40 seconds behind the winner of the 200 free.
The quartet of Michael Kohl (Missouri City, Texas / Ridge Point), Kendal Southwell (Rio Rancho, N.M. / Calvert Online Academy), Caleb Manifold (Helotes, Texas / Homeschool) and Nolan Anthony (Missouri City, Texas / Missouri City) took fifth place in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:33.57. Despite finishing in fifth, the Tigers were just behind the four swimmers of Washington University St. Louis who claimed first place with a time of 1:32.13.
Anthony sprinted to a first place finish in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 21.64. Konstantine Partalas (San Antonio, Texas / Reagan) took third in the one meter dive with a score of 249.35.
Southwell swam a 58.52 which earned him a fifth place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke. Kohl, Early, Daniel Sarman (Austin, Texas / Vandergrift) and Matteo Lanzara (Moraga, Calif. / Campolindo) paced to a fifth place finish in the 800 yard medley relay with a time of 6:57.24.

The Tigers will compete in day two of the D3 shootout on Saturday, November 6 then head back home to prepare for the Tiger Invite. Day two of the D3 Shootout will start at 11:30 a.m.
