CHICAGO - Trinity Men's Swimming and Diving team split up to compete at the D3 Shootout hosted by the University of Chicago. The men placed fifth with a team score of 295. The remainder of the team competed in a dual with conference foe Colorado College. The Tigers fell to Colorado College by a score of 156.5-55.5.
Day Two D3 Shootout
Matteo Lanzara (Moraga, Calif. / Campolindo), Kendal Southwell (Rio Rancho, N.M. / Calvert Online Academy), Caleb Manifold (Helotes, Texas / Homeschool) and Nathaniel Early (Austin, Texas / Westwood) finished fifth in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 3:25.60.
Southwell took fifth in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:10.11. Early raced to a second place finish in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 45.91. Daniel Sarman (Austin, Texas / Vandergrift) took fourth with a time of 1:56.17 in the 200 yard IM.
Manifold, Nolan Anthony (Missouri City, Texas / Missouri City), Michael Kohl (Missouri City, Texas / Ridge Point) and Early took fifth in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:25.72.
Day One Colorado College Dual
The quartet of Walker Kurtz (Denver, Colo. / Regis Jesuit), Spencer Steward (Kearney, Mo. / Kearney), Ben Adams (Lubbock, Texas / Monterey) and Shamzi Alkaff (Ft. Collins, Colo. / Fossil Ridge) raced to second place in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:40.87.
Andrew Crosley (San Antonio, Texas / Alamo Heights) took first place in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.06. Omar Shahatit (Austin, Texas / Westlake) rounded out the top three in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.30.
Ben Adams (Lubbock, Texas / Monterey) raced to a first place finish in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 53.94. Crosley and Wesley Wasserburger (Austin, Texas / James Bowie) rounded out the top three in the same event with times of 54.90 and 55.31.
Alkaff finished second in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 49.31. Steward raced to second place in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 101.88.
Day Two Colorado College Dual
Kurtz, Steward, Adams and Alkaff took second place in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 3:42.22. Crosley won the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.22. Crosley also took first in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 48.38.
Shahatit won the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:12.33. Steward raced to a second place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:14.13. Alkaff, Wasserburger, Grayden Nelson (San Antonio, Texas / San Antonio Christian) and Shahatit took second in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:18.07.
