SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Trinity University Track & Field sent a pair of representatives from the men's squad, seniors Sean Majors (Fredericksburg, Texas / Fredericksburg) and Tanner Lacy (Oak Ridge North, Texas / Oak Ridge) to open the 2021-22 indoor season at the Wittenberg College Opener on Saturday. The duo collectively participated in a trio of events, all of which concluded with indoor career personal-best results.
Majors continued his success in the long jump with an outstanding, first-place 7.33-meter leap in the indoor event which will set up the 2021 outdoor All-American well for the indoor championship in the new year. On the track, Majors collected a 49.5-second 400-meter, good for the runner-up spot in the event.
Lacy opened the indoor campaign with a runner-up finish in the pole vault clearing 4.42 meters for a top-five performance over his career and set the tone for a potential qualifying mark as well.
Coach Speak
"We've never opened up this early in the season, so this was a bit of a trial run," Head Coach Marcus Whitehead began. "It couldn't have turned out any better with three indoor personal bests, with one mark good enough for a spot at nationals. Even though we could only send a few athletes, the team looks very strong right now and there is no doubt we could have had great marks across the board today."
