Trinity Track & Field Athletes Ready For NCAA Outdoor Championships

San Antonio, TEXAS – Two Tigers and a relay squad will be representing Trinity track and field at the NCAA DIII Outdoor National Championships, beginning May 21.

Annabelle Lanik will be competing in the women's long jump for the second straight year. This year comes with even more excitement, as she currently ranks second nationally with her school record mark of 6.18m. She's well clear of third place nationally, holding a gap of over .20m. Lanik is already a two-time All-American in the long jump, never having finished lower than third. The women's long jump will take place at 5:00 pm on May 21.

Bocar Diagana will end his senior year competing in the men's triple jump. His journey back to nationals was nothing short of spectacular, as he spent most of the season on the sideline with an injury. For the second straight year, Diagana came through with a massive jump at the Trinity Last Chance Meet, this time with a school record of 14.81m to snag 13th place nationally. Also a two-time All-American, he'll be looking to end his collegiate career on a bang at 11:00 am on May 23.

The women's 4x100-meter squad of Lanik, Brightly Thoning, Shifa Daredia and Nia Scott will represent Trinity with the 11th best time in the nation with their school record 46.78. This will be Thoning, Daredia and Scott's first time at nationals, and Trinity's second straight year with a 4x100-meter qualifying team after the men made it last year. The prelims are on May 22 at 3:00 pm, and the finals will take place on May 23 at 1:05 pm.

Lanik, Diagana and the 4x100-meter squad will bring an incredible season to a close for Trinity, where the Tigers managed to snag an SAA title indoors and three second-place finishes, not to mention two SAA titles in cross country.
