Trinity opens up competition at ACU Wes Kittely Invitational

Box Score

ABILENE, Texas - Trinity University Track & Field made its first appearance at the Wes Kittely Invitational, hosted by NCAA I Abilene Christian University, Friday night.

The Tigers collected a runner-up performance in the women's 1500-meter from first-year Ellie Catron (Spring, Texas / The Woodlands Christian). The Tiger rookie's time of 4:54.45 was just a few seconds short of the program's all-time top-ten list, in her first attempt collegiately at the 1500.

On that top-ten list, junior Robert Slaybaugh (Missouri City, Texas / Elkins) tossed the hammer for a new personal-best of 39.31 meters, which solidified his position of fourth in the all-time ranks. The junior hurler is now just-over half a meter from overtaking the school's third spot.

2021 Spring SCAC Cross Country Champion, senior Jordan Juran (Littleton, Colo. / Chatfield) finished the women's 5,000-meter just-shy of the top five with a time of 19:00.8. This year's men's cross country SCAC runner-up, sophomore Ben Whittemore (Georgetown, Texas / Georgetown) paced just outside the top 10 in the men's 5,000m with a time of 15:56.92.

Trinity Track & Field remains in Abilene overnight for the conclusion of the Wes Kittely Invitational Saturday.
