Box Score SAN MARCOS, Texas – Trinity's men's and women's track & field teams continued their seasons at the Bobcat Classic on Sunday, hosted by Texas State University.
Several Tigers established new personal records and there were three individual event winners as well.
Abby Blackwood (Malibu, Calif. / Malibu) took the top honors in the women's 5,000-meter run, while teammate Anna King (San Antonio, Texas / Reagan) was the runner-up in the event.
Trinity won both the men's and women's 3,000-meter steeplechase competitions. Jordan Juran (Littleton, Colo. / Chatfield) won the women's race with a time of 11:42.12, which is the third-fastest by a Tiger runner this season. Ben Whittemore (Georgetown, Texas / Georgetown) won the men's event with a time of 10:09.18.
Paige Tangney (Wilmette, Ill. / New Trier Township) was third in the women's 1,500-meter run, setting a new personal record with a time of 4:48.06. That time is the best at Trinity this season and puts her into the top 10 in the program's all-time performance list.
Rushil Desai (Houston, Texas / St. Pius X) also finished with a new personal best in the 800-meter run, which was also the second-fastest time on the team – missing the top spot by just 0.01 seconds. Jacob Ontiveros (El Paso, Texas / El Paso) also set a new personal record in the event.
Justin Johnson (Houston, Texas / Manvel) joined the personal-best party with his time of 50.51 seconds in the 400-meter dash, which is less than a second from reaching the top 10 in school history. Grant Bishop (Seguin, Texas / Navarro) finished in 51.90 seconds for his second-fastest time collegiately.
Kyle Anderson (Cave Creek, Ariz. / Cactus Shadows) set a new PR in the 110-meter hurdles, while Drew Bullinger (Ft. Worth, Texas / Paschal) posted his second-fastest time in his two seasons with the Tigers.
Sticking with the hurdles, Seve Rodriguez (Waimea, Hawaii / La Canada) finished in 55.21 seconds for the second-fastest time in his career – missing his PR by just 0.01 seconds.
Makenna Bentley (Orange, Calif. / Orange Lutheran) cleared her best height of the season in the high jump, hitting 1.60 meters on Sunday.
Trinity will be back in action next weekend at the Abilene Christian University Last Chance Meet in Abilene, Texas.
