Box Score NEW ORLEANS- The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the All-Region teams for the 2021 Division III Outdoor Track and Field season this Friday. All 11 of the student-athletes selected from Trinity University represented the South region.
Sophomore Jordyn White (St. Louis, Mo. / Lutheran North) led the women's side with her school record of 5.92-meters in the long jump at the North Central College (IL) Gregory Final Qualifier, good enough to move her into third place nationally and earn a trip to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.
Junior Sean Majors (Fredericksburg, Texas / Fredericksburg) led the TU men and will be accompanying White to the national championships with his distance of 7.35-meters in the long jump which he set right out of the gate at the Trinity Invitational on March 5, strong enough for a seventh-place standing nationally.
Seniors Rylie Edwards (Frisco, Texas / Frisco) and Seve Rodriguez (Waimea, Hawaii / La Canada) represented the Tigers in the 400-meter hurdles. Edwards ran a PR of 1:05.05 at the 2021 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, which put her in 40th-place nationally. Rodriguez also sprinted to his fastest time of the season at the SCAC Outdoor Championships with a time of 55.20 in the 400-meter hurdles, good for a national finish of 51st.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Rodriguez , Majors, first-year Justin Johnson (Houston, Texas / Manvel), and sophomore Ethan Gilmore (Houston, Texas / Lamar) also earned All-Region honors. The speedsters finished just outside the top 17 which would have qualified the group for a trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The relay team blazed to a time of 3:15.98 at the North Central Gregory Final Qualifier.
First-year Ellie Catron (Spring, Texas / The Woodlands Christian) and Senior Jordan Juran (Littleton, Co. / Chatfield) both earned All-Region honors in the 3000-meter Steeplechase. Catron placed 28th in the steeple with a time of 11:15.49. Juran placed 29th with a time of 11:17.06. Both times were recorded at the North Central Dr. Keeler Invitational last week.
Junior Tanner Lacy (Oak Ridge North, Texas / Oak Ridge) cleared 4.75 meters in pole vault at the UIW Invitational April 9, which landed 23rd nationally. Senior Makenna Bentley (Orange, Ca / Orange Lutheran) cleared 1.60 meters in high jump at the Texas State Bobcat Classic April 30 which placed 54th nationally. Senior Jacob Winchester (Houston, Texas / Katy Taylor) heaved the javelin 53.99 meters at the SCAC Outdoor Championships to place 39th nationally.
