No. 6 Men's Tennis Falls to ITA Indoors Host, No. 2 Case Western Reserve

CLEVELAND - No. 6 Trinity University Men's Tennis fell in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Indoor National Championship semifinals Saturday afternoon to this year's host, No. 2 Case Western Reserve University, 8-1 at the Mayfield Village Racquet Club.

The Tigers (5-2) entered the day undefeated against NCAA III competition before they fell to the Spartans in the rematch of last year's NCAA III National Championship quarterfinal in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Senior Cameron Krimbill (Phoenix, Ariz. / Desert Mountain) maintained his undefeated run against NCAA III opponents as he collected the third-set superbreaker victory from the first line. Now 6-0 in NCAA III action as the No. 1 singles player this season, and ranked seventh in the nation as an individual, Krimbill posted a 7-6, 2-6, 1-0 line to defeat the sixth-ranked James Hopper of Case Western.

The line-one doubles duo of senior Christian Settles (Claremont, Calif. / Claremont) and junior Hao Nguyen (Sugar Land, Texas / Strake Jesuit) attempted a late rally after falling behind early on but ran out of time as all three Tiger pairs fell by 8-4 tallies. Nguyen joined Krimbill with a third-set breaker of his own but fell short in the race to 10 points, finishing the match at the 8-1 team score.
