WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Trinity senior Sean Majors (Fredericksburg, Texas / Fredericksburg) earned All-America honors for the second time in his career after finishing fifth at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday.
Majors reached 7.25 meters on his fifth of six jumps in the event, finishing just 0.05 meters from matching his third-place finish in the outdoor long jump at the 2021 NCAA Championships. He qualified for today's meet with his jump of 7.33 meters at the Wittenberg Opener in December, which was the first event of the indoor season.
This was the first trip to Indoor Nationals for Majors, as the NCAA cancelled the winter sports championships – including indoor track & field – for the 2020-21 season. This is his third overall trip to the NCAA Championships, having competed at both the 2019 and 2021 outdoor event.
The Tigers recently opened up its outdoor season as well, hosting the Trinity Invitational last weekend. Majors won the long jump with a mark of 7.20 meters. Trinity will be back in action March 18-19 at the Wes Kittley Invitational, hosted by Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas.
