SAN ANTONIO - No. 8 Trinity University Men's Tennis returned to the win column Tuesday night with a resounding 8-1 victory over No. 25 Kalamazoo College (MI) at the Newman Tennis Center.
The Tigers (11-4) put together a rapidfire doubles sweep completed by Cameron Krimbill (Phoenix, Ariz. / Desert Mountain) and Cal Hunter (Lafayette, Calif. / Campolindo) in the second line, 8-5.
With a dense schedule as of late, multiple Trinity singles players made their first appearances of the season in spots higher up the order. Eric Liao (Taipei, Taiwan / Boca Prep) and Christian Settles (Claremont, Calif. / Claremont) made their respective season-debuts in lines two and four, respectively, and were the first two to check in, clinching the match. Earlier, Settles and Hao Nguyen (Sugar Land, Texas / Strake Jesuit), Tuesday's SCAC Doubles of the Week recipients for the fifth time this season, improved to six-straight in line-one doubles.
As the match wound down, Rob Chang (Aiea, Hawai'i / 'lolani School) put together the most dominant performance of the evening, the second straight-sets shutout of his career, in line-six action.
No. 8 Trinity Men's Tennis will battle No. 2 University of Chicago on Friday, followed by No. 20 University of Mary Washington on Saturday.
