SAN ANTONIO - Trinity University Track & Field rose the NCAA III charts Saturday at the NCAA I University of the Incarnate Word Invitational, led by strong efforts in the men's 4x400 relay and 100 dash.

The long relay unit of Sean Majors (Fredericksburg, Texas / Fredericksburg), Josue Parra (Niles, Ill. / Maine East), Ethan Gilmore (Houston, Texas / Lamar) and Justin Johnson (Houston, Texas / Manvel) cruised to fourth in Saturday's competition in 3:18.82, a mark that lands fifth all-time at Trinity and in NCAA III this season entering the weekend.
BJ Stewart (Shreveport, La. / Woodlawn) tied the second-best time in the Trinity history in the 100-meter dash at 10.72 seconds, good for sixth against the day's NCAA I competition, 15th nationally in NCAA III.
Madison Habeck (Lake Jackson, Texas / Clute Brazoswood) finished third in the women's 800 meters at 2:19.76 to lead a trio of bronze performances for the Tigers, a time that ranks seventh in program history. The men's 4x100 of Majors, Stewart, Legend Grigsby (Houston, Texas / Cypress Creek) and Brian Rainey (Cedar Hill, Texas / Cedar Hill) finished less than one tenth of a second from their season-best 41.40 from last weekend's attempt, a time that still stands third nationally, second all-time at Trinity.
Johnson's 13.25-meter triple jump also landed third on Saturday to go along with a top-five performance in the women's edition from Joy Areola (Tomball, Texas / Rosehill Christian) at 11.37 meters, just shy of her 11.39-meter mark that remains 11th in NCAA III.
A pair of top-five discus performances were logged for the Tigers at UIW as Robert Slaybaugh (Missouri City, Texas / Elkins) and Kierra Francois (Rosharon, Texas / Arlington) finished fourth and fifth in the men's and women's events, respectively.
Will Salony's (Dallas, Texas / JJ Pearce) 1:55.41 in the 800 meters finished ninth in Saturday's event, the fourth-best time in program history. Both Taylor Kotfas (Blanco, Texas / Blanco) and Jordyn White (St. Louis, Mo. / Lutheran North) cracked top-tens for eighth in the 400 meters and 10th in the 100 hurdles, respectively, to lead the Tigers in those events.
Trinity Track & Field takes part in the Cactus Cup at NCAA II Texas A&M University-Kingsville next weekend, the final meet scheduled before the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, hosted in San Antonio April 23-24.
