Tiger Track & Field Trio Shines at APU Last Chance Meet

AZUSA, Calif. – Three members of Trinity's track & field teams competed at the APU Last Chance Meet on Friday, hosted by Azusa Pacific University.

Will Salony (Dallas, Texas / JJ Pearce) got things started for the Tiger trio by breaking the school record in the 1500-meter run. Salony finished in a time of 3:52.31 to narrowly break the 2010 record set by Chass Armstrong (3:52.75). The time is also just 0.02 from ranking in the top 50 in the NCAA III this season.

Ellie Catron (Spring, Texas / The Woodlands Christian) continued the successful night with her time of 11:08.53 in the 3000-meter steeplechase. That time, which is a new personal record by nearly 13 seconds, moves her to fourth on Trinity's all-time performance list and is ranked #19 in NCAA III this season.

Diego Flores (San Antonio, Texas / Great Hearts Monte Vista North) also set a new personal record in the men's steeple, eclipsing his previous top time by more than 12 seconds and finishing in 9:38.06. That time also puts him fourth on Trinity's all-time list.

Select members of Trinity's track & field teams will make one final attempt to move up the NCAA III performance list at the Augustana Midwest Twilight in Rock Island, Ill., on Thursday, May 19. The NCAA Championships are May 26-28 in Geneva, Ohio.
