HOUSTON - Trinity University Track & Field sent select members to the Tom Tellez Invitational Friday night on the campus of NCAA I University of Houston.
Sophomore Madison Habeck (Lake Jackson, Texas / Clute Brazoswood) came a little over a second away from an event victory for the Tigers Friday night with a 2:24.88 in the women's 800 meters.
All-American long-jumper Sean Majors (Fredericksberg, Texas / Fredericksberg) and Tiger rookie Will Salony (Dallas, Texas / JJ Pearce) led all collegiate entries in their respective events Friday as both claimed the bronze spot in the long jump and 800 meters, respectively.
Trinity also collected a trio of top-five performances led by sophomore Ellie Catron (Spring, Texas / The Woodlands Christian) in the 1,500 meters as she defeated multiple Houston runners as the highest-finishing non-NCAA I entry. Fellow sophomores Sealan Ledat (Richardson, Texas / Richardson) and Jalen Leonce (Allen, Texas / Jesuit Prep) edged out Tiger teammates to notch the fifth spot in the women's 800 meters and the men's 110 hurdles, respectively.
Trinity Track & Field will continue through the qualification portion of the 2022 campaign in the next two weeks, with widespread travel currently listed on the upcoming schedule. The Tigers are slated to make appearances at North Central College (IL) and University of Redlands (CA) before the 2022 NCAA III Outdoor National Championships at the SPIRE Insitute in Geneva, Ohio May 26-28.
