WACO, Texas – The American Football Coaches Association has announced that Trinity University Head Coach Jerheme Urban is the 2023 Division III Region 3 Coach of the Year.

Led by Coach Urban, Trinity finished with a 10-2 record and a third straight appearance in the NCAA III Playoffs this season. The Tigers also went undefeated in conference play, clinching its fourth Southern Athletic Association Championship in the last five years. The Tigers also advanced to the Second Round of the playoffs for the second year in a row.

Coach Urban is second in school history in total wins after his 10th season in charge of his alma mater. He holds a career record of 71-27 for a winning percentage of .724. This is his second AFCA Regional Coach of the Year award, also earning the honor after the 2021 season.

The AFCA recognizes five regional Coach of the Year winners in each of the Association's five divisions: Football Bowl Subdivision, Football Championship Subdivision, Division II, Division III, and NAIA. The winners are selected by Active members of the Association who vote for coaches in their respective regions and divisions.
