HOUSTON, Texas – The Tiger men's and women's track & field teams produced another outstanding set of individual results at the FasTrak Indoor Collegiate Challenge, held at the University of Houston's Yeoman Fieldhouse on Saturday.
Trinity won three men's events and three women's events, as well as securing the win in the men's 4x400-meter relay event during the day's action that also featured several teams outside of NCAA III. The Tigers swept the men's and women's triple jump, won the men's long jump, won the women's 3,000-meter run, won the men's 60-meter hurdles, and won the women's weight throw.
Justin Johnson (Houston, Texas / Manvel) and
Joy Areola (Tomball, Texas / Rosehill Christian) ensured a Tiger sweep in the triple jump, as Johnson won with a mark of 14.08 meters, and Areola reached 11.32 meters for her win. Areola was also fourth in the long jump with a distance of 4.11 meters, while Johnson also earned fourth place in the 60-meter hurdles finals with his time of 8.69 seconds.
Johnson also ran the third leg of the winning relay team in the men's 4x400 that finished in 3:25.20, finishing nearly five seconds ahead of the rest of the field.
Nicolas Ladreyt (Santa Monica, Calif. / Harvard-Westlake School) started things off, followed by
Ethan Gilmore (Houston, Texas / Lamar) and Johnson.
Grant Bishop (Geronimo, Texas / Navarro) finished off the final lap for the Tiger team.
Elaine Kaster (Lewisville, Texas / Founders Classical Academy) was the women's 3,000-meter champion with a time of 10:47.75, beating out her teammate
Gianna Keena (Lakeway, Texas / Lake Travis) by less than three seconds. Keena finished in 10:50.14 to earn the silver in the event.
Staying on the track,
Azariah Anderson (Saint Charles, Mo. / Francis Howell North) had an outstanding day in the 60-meter hurdles. He earned the top time in the prelims at 8.45 seconds, then won the finals event with an even better race that he finished in 8.30 seconds.
Casey Hampton (Houston, Texas / Westbury Christian) reached 6.76 meters to win the men's long jump, while
Kierra Francois (Angleton, Texas / Angleton) took the weight throw title with her top mark of 15.35 meters. Francois also finished fifth in the shot put after reaching 11.00 meters in that event.
Maggie Nava (San Antonio, Texas / Holy Cross) finished as the runner-up to Francois in the weight throw, while
Emma Ross (Kansas City, Kan. / Shawnee Mission South) was fifth and
Kate Ballengee (Albuquerque, N.M. / Bosque School) was 7th to put three Tigers in the top seven in the event. Nava was also ninth in the shot put.
Danya Selber (Edinburg, Texas / Robert Vela) and
Avery Puig (Laredo, Texas / Alexander) were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the women's 60-meter finals. Selber finished in 8.06 for fourth place and Puig was fifth in a time of 8.16 seconds. Both Tiger women also earned spots in the top five of the 60-meter hurdles, though this time it was Puig that led the way. She finished third with a time of 9.69 seconds, while Selber was fifth after hitting the line at 9.83 seconds.
Jalen Leonce (Allen, Texas / Jesuit College Prep) was in the men's 60-meter hurdles, finishing sixth with a time of 8.85 seconds.
Legend Grigsby (Houston, Texas / Cypress Creek) missed the 60-meter dash finals by just 0.01 seconds, finishing ninth with his time of 7.11 seconds in the prelims. Grigsby was also seventh in the 200-meter dash.
Will Salony (Dallas, Texas / JJ Pearce) was second in the mile for the best distance result of the day for the Trinity men, while the Tigers also had three individuals finish in the top 10 in the men's 3,000-meter run.
Jackson White (Boerne, Texas / Boerne) led the way with a time of 8:55.21 that was good for third, while
Ryan Rager-Aguiar (Spring Hill, Tenn. / Independence) finished fifth in 8:58.90.
Nathaniel Trevino (San Antonio, Texas / Central Catholic) was eighth with his time of 9:04.36.
Salony also led off the men's distance medley relay team that finished in third place on Saturday. He was followed by
Jared Gallagher (Ft. Worth, Texas / Southwest Christian),
Jesus Rojas (Houston, Texas / Ridge Point), and
Sebastian Langer (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) on the team that clocked in at 10:44.00.
Bocar Diagana (Edina, Minn. / Edina) was the runner-up to Johnson in the men's triple jump and also earned eighth in the high jump.
Adrian Suarez (Carrollton, Texas / Greenhill) and
Seth Jacobs (Santa Fe, Texas / Santa Fe) were third and fourth, respectively, in the pole vault.
The women's 4x40 relay team of
Taylor Koftas (Blanco, Texas / Blanco),
CC Gray (Scottsdale, Ariz. / Notre Dame Prep),
Sealan Ledat (Richardson, Texas / Richardson), and
Hayley Huck (Prosper, Texas / Prosper) earned second place with a time of 4:06.23.
Ledat also finished fourth in the women's 200-meter dash and ninth in the 60-meter prelims, while Gray was in sixth place just 0.20 seconds behind her teammate. Huck was seventh in the 400-meter dash and just missed a top-10 finish in the 60-meter hurdles.
Madeline Wiestruck (Houston, Texas / Northland Christian) had a great day as well, finishing second behind Areola in the triple jump and earning third place in the pole vault.
Bailey Dueitt (The Woodlands, Texas / The Woodlands) was fourth and
Kaelin Leishman (Wheaton, Ill. / North) was fifth in the pole vault.
Aliya Noe (San Antonio, Texas / Reagan) was also fifth in the triple jump.
Josette Gurule (Santa Fe, N.M. / Academy for Technology and the Classics) and
Emily Gnecco (Livermore, Calif. / Livermore) were both in the top 10 of the women's mile, while
Maia Dykstra (Clarkston, W. Va. / Asotin),
Grace Etzel (Friendswood, Texas / Friendswood), and
Em Miller (Danville, Calif. / San Ramon Valley) all finished in the top 10 of the 3K along with Kaster.

Trinity's teams will be back in action one last time during the indoor season, traveling to Lubbock, Texas next weekend to compete at the Matador Qualifier, hosted by Texas Tech University.
