SAN MARCOS/AUSTIN, Texas – The Trinity men's and women's track & field teams were in action at two meets on Friday, with members of the men's team racing at the Texas Relays, and athletes from both teams competing at the Bobcat Invitational.
The Tigers qualified for the Texas Relays in three events slated for Friday: the men's 110-meter hurdles, the men's 4x100-meter relay, and the men's 4x400-meter relay. Trinity's men and women also qualified in several events of the Bobcat Invitational, which began on Thursday.
At the Texas Relays this morning, Trinity's 4x100 relay team missed a handoff during its heat and did not finish. Later in the day, though, sophomore
Azariah Anderson (St. Charles, Mo. / Frances Howell North) was back in action in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing 25th overall with a time of 14.32 seconds. That time is the second-fastest of his career and he came into the week with the best time in NCAA III in the event.
The 4x400 relay team of sophomore
Nicolas Ladreyt (Santa Monica, Calif. / Harvard-Westlake School), junior
Josue Parra (Niles, Ill./ Maine East), senior
Ethan Gilmore (Houston, Texas / Lamar), and junior
Justin Johnson (Houston, Texas / Manvel) finished ninth in a competitive field with a time of 3:17.35. That time moves the team up to fifth in school history and four of Trinity's top five times ever have come since 2019. That race was also Trinity's final competition at this year's Texas Relays.
Late this afternoon, the Tigers began their second day of action at the Bobcat Invitational with the 400-meter hurdles. Senior
Avery Puig (Laredo, Texas / Alexander) set a new personal record with her time of 1:07.93 in the event, which is just outside of the top 10 in school history. Junior
Hayley Huck (Prosper, Texas / Prosper) also set a new PR with her time of 1:08.89 that is also just over two seconds from a spot in the top 10 at Trinity. Senior
Kyle Anderson (Cave Creek, Ariz. / Cactus Shadows) led a trio of men's runners in the event with a time of 56.88 seconds that earned him 26th overall. That time is less than second from his PR that he set last year and is already 10th in school history.
In the 800-meter run, first-year
Sebastian Langer (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) finished 19th with a time of 1:54.82 that is just 0.40 seconds from his PR last weekend that moved him up to fourth all-time at Trinity. Sophomore
Marco Jonsson (Sugar Land, Texas / Dulles) also finished in the top 25 in the event.
The 1500-meter run featured three total Tiger runners and sophomore
Will Salony (Dallas, Texas / JJ Pearce) led the way with a sixth-place finish. His time of 3:53.92 is the second-fastest of his career and is just over a second-and-a-half away from the school record he set last year. First-year
Emily Gnecco (Livermore, Calif. / Livermore) was 20th for the Trinity women with a time of 4:54.91, while senior
Ben Whittemore (Georgetown, Texas / Georgetown) was 22nd.
Trinity had 11 runners in the 5,000-meter race, led by senior
Elaine Kaster (Lewisville, Texas / Founders Classical Academy) on the women's side and sophomore
Jackson White (Boerne, Texas / Boerne) for the men. Kaster was 16th with a time of 19:14.92, while White finished 19th in 15:28.15 for a new personal-best that is just outside of the top 10 all-time at Trinity.
