KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Tiger men's and women's track & field teams battled through a weather delay of two hours, but still finished with personal records broken and new entries on Trinity's top 10 list at Saturday's Cactus Cup, hosted by Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
In addition to the main group of Tiger competitors at the Cactus Cup, sophomore
Will Salony (Dallas, Texas / JJ Pearce) also ran at Azusa Pacific University's Bryan Clay Invitational in California. He ran the 1500-meter race in 3:52.54 for the second-best time of his career, which is just 0.23 seconds from the school record he set last year.
Junior
Danya Selber (Edinburg, Texas / Robert Vela) raced her way to the top five in school history in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in 15.38 seconds to earn eighth place on Saturday. That time pushes her all the way to fourth in school history.
First-year
Madeleine Seabolt (San Diego, Calif. / Mt. Carmel) also made her way into the top 10 in school history in the javelin throw. She finished third at this year's Cactus Cup with a throw of 34.82 meters that is the seventh-best throw in school history. She also finished 12th in the discus with a throw of 34.72 meters and 16th in the shot put with a mark of 10.06 meters.
Jack Witkow (Port Washington, N.Y. / Paul Schreiber) had a pair of top 10 finishes in the hammer throw and the discus throw. He set a new personal record in the hammer after reaching 34.77 meters to finish eighth, then threw 40.46 meters to earn ninth in the discus. His throw in the discus is the first time this season that a Tiger thrower has surpassed 40 meters.
Heath Schake (Wimberley, Texas / Wimberley) also had a PR in the discus (37.52 meters) after finishing 10th, while also earning fifth in the hammer with a throw of 39.16 meters. Schake also had a mark of 12.47 meters to finish 11th in the shot put.
Madeline Wietstruck (Houston, Texas / Northland Christian) cleared 3.25 meters in the pole vault for the second-highest vault of her career and finished in a tie for second in Saturday's meet. She was also fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 10.77 meters.
Bailey Dueitt (The Woodlands, Texas / The Woodlands) joined Wietstruck in the top five of the pole vault, clearing 3.10 meters to tie for fourth place.
Kate Ballengee (Albuquerque, N.M. / Bosque School) joined Schake with a new personal-best throw of 37.11 meters in the discus to finish eighth. She also earned 15th in the shot put with a mark of 10.20 meters.
Ash Meckel (Austin, Texas / The Griffin School) and
Luke Whitfill (Overland Park, Kan. / The Barstow School) both earned new personal records in the 1500-meter run and both Tiger runners joined teammates
Joseph Gurule (Santa Fe, N.M. / Academy for Technology and the Classics) and
Brandon Haub (Kennedale, Texas / Kennedale) as top 20 finishers in the event.
Rushil Desai (Houston, Texas / St. Pius X) joined two other Tiger teammates to finish in the top 20 of the 400-meter dash and Desail had a new personal record of 53.27 seconds in the event.
Drew Bullinger (Ft. Worth, Texas / Paschal) was also among three Trinity runners in the top 20 of the 100-meter dash, finishing in 11.08 for the second-fastest time of his career.
Evan Witt (Midland, Texas / Trinity School) was one-tenth of a second behind his teammate to set a new personal best.
Yasmin Subawalla (Houston, Texas / Singapore American School) set a new PR in the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 26.99, while
Ethan Gilmore (Houston, Texas / Lamar) finished in 22.39 seconds in the men's race for the second-fastest time in his career.

Trinity will defend both the men's and women's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships next weekend in Georgetown, Texas. The Tigers have swept the men's and women's conference titles each of the past two seasons, while Trinity's women have won seven straight SCAC Championships dating back to 2015. Southwestern University will serve as the host of this year's SCAC Championship, which will be held Saturday-Sunday, April 22-23.
