Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ABILENE, Texas – The Trinity University men's tennis team continued its season at Abilene Christian University on Saturday, dropping a 6-1 decision to Tyler Junior College before falling 7-0 against hosting ACU.

Trinity opened its busy Saturday by winning two out of three doubles matches to take the doubles point against Tyler JC. Aashish Dhanani () and Eric Liao () got doubles started with a 6-1 line three win, then Tyler snagged a victory at line one to tie things up. Rob Chang () and Dalton Locke () earned a 6-4 win to close out doubles play and clinch the point.

The Tigers were swept in singles with five of the six wins coming in straight sets. The only exception was Rafa Candelas (), who started with a 6-2 win in the opening set, but then lost 6-2 and 6-3 in the next two sets to put Tyler up 3-1 at the time.

Against hosting Abilene Christian, Chang and Locke dropped the opening doubles match, while Jared Perry () and Candelas fell at line three to clinch the doubles point. Dhanani and Liao were tied 4-4 at the top line when the point was clinched.

In singles, Candelas and Conor Kaczmarczyk (Aurora, Colo. / Regis Jesuit) both went to a third set before falling. Candelas won the second set 6-4 to force a third, but was unable to get a third-set win. Kaczmarczyk won 7-6 (7) in the second set, then lost a 10-7 third-set tiebreaker.

Trinity will make its home debut for the 2024 season next weekend, hosting Concordia University (TX) at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16. The Tigers also host Hardin-Simmons University the next morning, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
