Tiger Men's Tennis Players Fall in Opening Round of ITA Cup

ROME, Ga. – The 21st-ranked Trinity University men's tennis team came up short in the first round of the ITA Cup, hosted at the Rome Tennis Center.

Tiger junior Kishan Kersten (Plano, Texas / West) lost a narrow 6-7 (5-7), 5-7 match against #3 seed Ethan Greene of Denison University (OH) in the first round of the singles tournament. The Trinity doubles team of junior Ethan Flores (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) and sophomore Roshin Kamath (League City, Texas / Clear Springs) were defeated in three sets by #2 seeds Christian Liew and Shrikeshav Murugesan of the University of Chicago (IL). The Tiger duo won the first set 6-2, then lost the second by the same margin, and then lost 10-2 in a super tiebreaker.

All three played their way into the tournament by winning the ITA Southwest Regional Championship earlier this month and also secured All-American status in the process. In all-Trinity finals in both singles and doubles, the Tigers defeated teammates to advance.
