ROME, Ga. – The 21st-ranked Trinity University men's tennis team came up short in the first round of the ITA Cup, hosted at the Rome Tennis Center.

Kishan Kersten (Plano, Texas / West) lost a narrow 6-7 (5-7), 5-7 match against #3 seed Ethan Greene of Denison University (OH) in the first round of the singles tournament. The Trinity doubles team of junior
Ethan Flores (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) and sophomore
Roshin Kamath (League City, Texas / Clear Springs) were defeated in three sets by #2 seeds Christian Liew and Shrikeshav Murugesan of the University of Chicago (IL). The Tiger duo won the first set 6-2, then lost the second by the same margin, and then lost 10-2 in a super tiebreaker.
All three played their way into the tournament by winning the ITA Southwest Regional Championship earlier this month and also secured All-American status in the process. In all-Trinity finals in both singles and doubles, the Tigers defeated teammates to advance.

Kersten and Flores/Kamath will continue in the Consolations of the tournament this weekend. Kersten will face Andreas Sillaste of Amherst College (MA) on Friday at 9:00 a.m. The Tiger doubles team will take on Lleyton Mendieta and Villem Aadamsoo of Hamilton College (NY) at 1:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
