ROME, Ga. – The 21st-ranked Trinity University men's tennis team looked to bounce back in its ITA Cup consolation matches after opening day defeats.
In the singles tournament junior
Kishan Kersten (Plano, Texas / West) matched up against Andreas Sillaste of Amherst College in a consolation match. After Kersten's promising performance against the tournaments #3 seed yesterday, he unfortunately came up short losing in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.
The doubles tournament produced more success for the Tigers, as junior
Ethan Flores (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) and sophomore
Roshin Kamath (League City, Texas / Clear Springs) looked to bounce back from yesterday's loss to the tournaments #2 seed. The duo wasted no time asserting control in their consolation match against Angel Guerrero and Flores Monteverde of Hamilton College, as they comfortably defeated their opponent 6-0, 6-3 in straight sets, to end the day on a high note.
All three played their way into the tournament by winning the ITA Southwest Regional Championship earlier this month and also secured All-American status in the process. In all-Trinity finals in both singles and doubles, the Tigers defeated teammates to advance.
