Men's Tennis Completes Sweep of ITA Regional Championships

SAN ANTONIO – The Trinity University men's tennis team completed the ITA Southwest Regional Championships on Sunday, sweeping the singles and doubles titles in all-Trinity finals of both tournaments.

The #1 seed Jared Perry (Tucson, Ariz. / Catalina Foothills) and the #2 seed Kishan Kersten (Plano, Texas / West) both reached the Singles Championships, then also paired up and reached the finals as second-seeded doubles team as well. Teammates Ethan Flores (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) and Roshin Kamath (League City, Texas / Clear Springs) were the other finalists in doubles as the two Tiger teams met for the Doubles Championship.

Perry took the opening set against Kersten by a 6-4 margin, but Kersten outlasted his teammate to rally for the win. Kersten won the second set 6-1, then clinched the title with a 6-4 win in the third set. The doubles final was a tight contest from the start, but Flores and Kamath upset their teammates with a 7-5, 7-6 (10-8) win.
