LUBBOCK, Texas – The Trinity University men's and women's track & field teams began the Jarvis Scott Open with standout performances on Friday.
The Tigers competed on the first of two days at the meet, hosted by Texas Tech University over Valentine's Weekend.
Cali Good (Yucaipa, Calif. / Yucaipa) had Trinity's top performance on day one, finishing ninth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:55.21. Good won the second heat of the race to earn her spot in the top 10.
Danya Selber (Edinburg, Texas / Robert Vela) and
Kris Duggan (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) both competed in the 60-meter hurdles, with Selber finishing 36th in the women's race with a time of 9.12 seconds, and Duggan coming in 44th for the men in 8.92 seconds.
Legend Grigsby (Houston, Texas / Cypress Creek) raced the 60-meter dash and finished in 7.03 seconds.
Annette Smith (Houston, Texas / Ridge Point) and
Sebastian Langer (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) finished in the top 40 of the women's and men's 800-meter run. Smith clocked a time of 2:21.36, while Langer finished in 1:56.79.
Trinity had four total competitors in the 400-meter dash on Friday, including three men's runners.
Nicolas Ladreyt (Santa Monica, Calif. / Harvard-Westlake School) led the Tigers with his time of 48.80, but
Price Schultea (Cypress, Texas / Cypress Christian) was close behind his teammate at 49.14.
Jackson Gallagher (Ft. Worth, Texas / Southwest Christian) finished in 51.73 to round out Trinity's runners.
CC Gray (Scottsdale, Ariz. / Notre Dame Prep) turned in a time of 1:00.95 for the Tiger women.
