No. 11 Tiger Men's Tennis Set to Compete at the ITA Indoor National Championships in St. Peter, Minnesota
This past weekend the Tigers (4-0) traveled to Austin and secured a dominant 7-0 win over Concordia.
Last Time
Trinity secured the doubles point with a clean sweep of all three matches. The first victory came at Line 2, where
Aashish Dhanani (Austin, Texas / Westwood) and
Eric Liao (Taipei, Taiwan / Boca Prep (Fla.) dominated with a 6-1 win. Shortly after,
Kishan Kersten (Plano, Texas / West) and
Rocco Mendez (Las Vegas, Nevada / Odyssey Charter School) clinched Line 1 with a strong 6-2 victory. The Tigers completed the sweep at Line 3, as
Ethan Flores (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) and
Conor Kaczmarczyk (Aurora, Colorado / Regis Jesuit) sealed a 6-1 win.
In singles play, Kersten was the first to finish at Line 6, delivering a flawless 6-0, 6-0 victory. Mendez followed at Line 4 with another commanding 6-0, 6-0 win.
Connor Whittington (Lake Oswego, Oregon / Lake Oswego) quickly added to the tally at Line 5, also posting a 6-0, 6-0 victory. At Line 2,
Ryan Warren (Keller, Texas / Connections Academy) extended Trinity's lead with a strong 6-0, 6-2 performance.
Roshin Kamath (League City, Texas / Clear Springs) then closed out his match at Line 3 with a solid 6-0, 6-3 win. Finally,
Jared Perry (Tucson, Arizona / Catalina Foothills) completed the sweep at Line 1 with a 6-3, 6-3 victory.
SCAC Doubles Team Of The Week - Rocco Mendez & Kishan Kersten

Rocco Mendez (2025: Doubles: Week 1) & Sophomore
Kishan Kersten (2025: Doubles: Week 1) have won SCAC Doubles Team Of The Week.

Mendez, a first-year from Las Vegas, Nev., and Kersten, a sophomore from Plano, Texas, clinched the doubles point for #11 Trinity, kicking off what turned into a 7-0 victory over Concordia University (Texas) on Saturday afternoon. Kersten and Mendez won 6-2 at line one doubles to clinch the doubles point. The Tigers went on to complete the doubles sweep and then sweep all six singles matches to complete the 7-0 shutout.

The Tigers look to continue their perfect season as they head to the ITA Indoor National Championships, where they are set to face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the first round on Friday February 12th, at 12pm.
On the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags: The Stags are 2-2 so far this year with wins against UC Riverside 5-2 (Division 1) and Brandeis 6-1. The Stags two losses this season have both been 3-4 defeats to Division 2 opponents Concordia University Irvine and Point Loma. They will look to contend for the ITA crown this weekend as they come in at the #2 seed.
The Stags will look to standout junior Advik Mareedu to lead their championship hopes. Since the fall 2024 season, Mareedu is 11-0, including two wins against Division 2 opponents this spring. Last time out, Trinity was defeated by the stags 2-5 in the 2023-2024 season. The Tigers are set to face their toughest match yet as they head into the first round of the ITA Championships.
Looking Ahead
If the Tigers defeat Claremont on Friday, they will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, February 23rd, facing the winner of Case Western vs. Swarthmore at either 9 A.M. or 12 P.M.. If they lose, they will compete in a consolation match on Saturday at either 3:30 P.M. or 6:30 P.M. The championship, third-place, fifth-place, and seventh-place matches are set for Sunday, with times to be determined.
