HOUSTON – The Trinity University men's and women's track & field teams delivered strong performances at the FasTrak Athletix Collegiate Indoor Last Chance Invitational, held in Houston, Texas. Several Tigers secured top five finishes in their respective events, highlighting a competitive showing at the meet.
Field Events Shine with Podium Finishes
Andrew Mueller ( / ) led the way for Trinity in the men's high jump, clearing 1.90 meters to secure third place.
Sophia Ortiz (Liberty Hill, Texas / Liberty Hill) placed seventh in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.55 meters. On the women's side,
Addison Doss (Sugar Land, Texas / Logos Preparatory Academy) had a standout performance in the pole vault, finishing fifth with a clearance of 3.40 meters, while
Chloe McCloskey (La Vernia, Texas / La Vernia) secured 11th place at 3.10 meters. In the men's pole vault,
Adrian Suarez (Carrollton, Texas / Greenhill) and
Kris Duggan (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) finished 15th (4.30 meters) and 16th (4.28 meters), respectively.
In the horizontal jumps,
Annabelle Lanik (Sugar Land, Texas / St. John's) impressed in the women's long jump, finishing fourth with a mark of 5.53 meters, while
Joy Areola (Tomball, Texas / Rosehill Christian School) followed closely in sixth at 5.26 meters.
Emillie Mireles (Brownsville, Texas / Hanna Early College) placed 21st with a leap of 4.44 meters. Areola went on to claim a runner-up finish in the women's triple jump, recording a leap of 11.87 meters, with
Ciandra Carrico (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) placing ninth at 10.85 meters. In the men's long jump, Mueller finished 12th (6.28 meters),
Bocar Diagana (Edina, Minn. / Edina) 16th (6.17 meters), and
Kaleem Howard ( / ) 19th (6.13 meters). Diagana also placed fifth in the men's triple jump with a mark of 14.02 meters.
Distance Runners Excel in Mile, 5,000-Meter Races
Trinity's distance runners delivered solid performances, highlighted by
Josette Gurule (Santa Fe, N.M. / Academy for Technology and the Classics) (5:14.53) and
Emerson Voldan (Arlington, Texas / Mansfield Summit) (5:14.75), who finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the women's mile run.
Annette Smith (Houston, Texas / Ridge Point) also placed eighth (5:20.47), with
Krista Wolfhope (Austin, Texas / Vista Ridge) finishing 19th (5:35.33), Carly Hope 21st (5:41.61), and
Emily Gnecco (Livermore, Calif. / Livermore) 25th (5:46.18). In the men's mile,
Sebastian Langer (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) clocked 4:21.87 for a fourth-place finish, with
Kyle Fix (Wilmette, Ill. / New Trier) finishing eighth (4:22.84) and
Dashiell Browne (Lantana, Texas / Guyer) placing 13th (4:28.66).
In the women's 5,000-meter race,
Cali Good (Yucaipa, Calif. / Yucaipa) led the Tigers with a seventh-place finish (18:43.6), followed by
Charlotte Martin (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) in 10th (18:59.7) and
Anne Snider (Waco, Texas / Live Oak Classical) in 12th (19:19.57).
Kate Boone (Temple, Texas / Holy Trinity Catholic) (15th, 19:50.4),
Avery Hand ( / ) (17th, 20:05.8),
Stephanie Suarez (Harlingen, Texas / Harlingen) (18th, 20:05.8),
Esperanza Vazquez (Houston, Texas / Incarnate Word HS) (20th, 20:13.1), and
Ellie Herrick (Corpus Christi, Texas / Tuloso Midway) (21st, 20:15.8) also placed in the top 25. In the men's 5,000-meter race,
Thomas Melina-Raab (Austin, Texas / McCallum) placed sixth (15:22.49), followed by
Logan Nasky (Irving, Texas / MacArthur) in seventh (15:28.65).
Jesus Rojas (Houston, Texas / Ridge Point) (14th, 15:48.33),
Nathaniel Trevino (San Antonio, Texas / Central Catholic) (15th, 15:55.91),
JT Ahmann (Austin, Texas / McNeil) (18th, 16:07.53), and
Luke Whitfill (Overland Park, Kan. / The Barstow School) (25th, 16:23.89) also had strong finishes.
Strong Showings in Sprints and Hurdles
Danya Selber (Edinburg, Texas / Robert Vela) showcased her speed in the women's 60-meter hurdles, advancing to the finals and securing a fourth-place finish with a time of 9.11 seconds. Carrico also competed, finishing 15th (9.75). Duggan reached the finals in the men's 60-meter hurdles, finishing eighth (8.68).
In the 60 meters, Selber placed 29th (8.09), followed by
Nia Scott in 30th (8.10). In the men's race,
Legend Grigsby finished 19th (7.06), while
Price Schultea placed 37th (7.16). In the women's 200 meters,
Annabelle Lanik finished 11th (25.57), while
Nia Scott (30th, 26.82) and Lilly Broussard (37th, 27.02) also placed in the top 40.
Halle Hamilton ( / ) recorded a top three finish in the women's 800 meters, taking third place with a time of 2:21.17, while
Nicolas Ladreyt (Santa Monica, Calif. / Harvard-Westlake School) finished fifth in the men's 800 meters at 1:58.47.
Throws and Final Notes
Aaron Chang (Fullerton, Calif. / Valley Christian) led the Trinity men in the shot put, placing 12th with a throw of 12.12 meters, followed by
Cole Noack ( / ) in 15th (11.87 meters). In the women's shot put,
Madeleine Seabolt (San Diego, Calif. / Mt. Carmel) placed 18th (10.80 meters), with
Kate Ballengee (Albuquerque, N.M. / Bosque School) (19th, 10.75 meters) and
Rachel Bell (Manvel, Texas / Lutheran South Academy) (26th, 9.73 meters) also competing. In the weight throw, Bell placed 17th (12.64 meters), Ballengee 20th (12.05 meters), and Seabolt 28th (9.36 meters). For the men, Chang placed 11th (12.99 meters),
Xae Huerta (San Antonio, Texas / Jay) 13th (11.44 meters), and Noack 16th (9.86 meters).
