Box Score SAN ANTONIO – The 29th-ranked Trinity University men's tennis team fell just short in a narrow 4-3 loss against sixth-ranked Emory University on Friday afternoon.
It was a bright start to the evening for the Tigers as they were dominant in doubles action. First to finish was the duo of
Conor Kaczmarczyk (Aurora, Colo. / Regis Jesuit) and
Jared Perry (Tucson, Ariz. / Catalina Foothills) at #3, who took care of their opponents, winning 6-2. Next to finish was
Eric Liao (Taipei, Taiwan / Boca Prep) and
Aashish Dhanani (Austin, Texas / Westwood), who secured the doubles point with a win at #2. At the top spot,
Rocco Mendez (Las Vegas, Nev. / Odyssey Charter School) and
Kishan Kersten (Plano, Texas / West) took a 6-3 loss.
The singles action was intense and extremely competitive, with the match coming down to the final game. Trinity stretched their lead to 2-0 as
Roshin Kamath (League City, Texas / Clear Springs) claimed a convincing 6-3, 6-0 win at #6. The Eagles got on the board with a win at #4 as Dhanani suffered a 6-2, 6-1 loss before Liao replied with a 7-5, 6-2 victory at #5, putting the Tigers within one point of the match. With the game in the balance, Emory turned up the heat, winning 6-4, 6-3 against Kersten at the third spot to stay in it. Both the #1 and #2 spots produced three-set battles that came down to the wire. Mendez took a 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 loss at #2 before Emory secured the win with a riveting 7-5, 5-7, 7-5 victory over Perry at top spot.

The Tigers will look to shake this loss off quickly as they return to the court for a doubleheader tomorrow, April 19th, against Pomona-Pitzer College and Colorado College. The matches are set to start at 10:00am and 3:00pm at the
