Trinity Track & Field Earn High Marks at David Noble Relays

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Trinity University men's and women's track & field teams finished up its part at the David Noble Relays on Saturday, which were hosted by Angelo State University (TX).

The 13th-ranked Tiger women had five athletes in the shot put and two entries in the javelin on Saturday, while the men's team had five shot putters as well. The women also had one runner in the 800-meter race, with the rest of the men's and women's teams opting out of the meet due to weather conditions.

Jack Witkow (Port Washington, N.Y. / Paul Schreiber) led Trinity's men with an 11th-place finish in the shot put competition, throwing 37.81 meters. Xae Huerta (San Antonio, Texas / Jay) was 15th with a top throw of 33.70 meters, while LJ Brown (Dallas, Texas / Poteet) posted a new PR after reaching 32.99 meters to finish 17th. Cole Noack ( / ) gave the Tigers four throwers in the top 20, reaching 31.29 meters.

In the women's discus, all five Trinity athletes finished in the top 20, led by Madeleine Seabolt (San Diego, Calif. / Mt. Carmel) and her throw of 34.57 meters that was good for 10th place. Rachel Bell (Manvel, Texas / Lutheran South Academy) was just behind her teammate in 11th place after finishing with a mark of 34.28 meters. Kate Pulley (Lake Oswego, Ore. / Oregon Episcopal School) set a new PR with a 31.04-meter throw that earned her 15th place. Maria Bodden (San Antonio, Texas / Incarnate Word HS) was 17th with a throw of 30.00 meters and Kate Ballengee (Albuquerque, N.M. / Bosque School) was 19th with a throw of 29.58 meters.

Seabolt and Demi Durham (Parker, Ariz. / Parker) were both in the top eight in the women's javelin. Seabolt edged out her teammate with a throw of 27.72 meters to finish sixth, while Durham reached 26.21 meters for eighth place. Halle Hamilton ( / ) was less than four seconds from her fastest career time in the women's 800-meter run, clocking in at 2:2.27 to earn sixth place.

Up Next
Trinity will compete in two different meets next weekend as the teams make final preparations for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships at the end of April. Some athletes will be in Nacogdoches, Texas, on April 11 and 12 for the Carl Kight Invite and Multi that is hosted by Stephen F. Austin University (TX). Others will compete at the Cactus Cup, hosted by Texas A&M University-Kingsville on Saturday, April 12.
