LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Trinity University softball team had three standout players named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-Region teams.
Junior
Carsyn Lee (Flower Mound, Texas / Flower Mound) and first-year
Mariana Garcia (Goodyear, Ariz. / Canyon View) both made the All-Region X Second Team, while sophomore
Ella Whitacre (Roanoke, Texas / Byron Nelson) earned a spot on the Third Team. All three earned All-Region honors for the first time in their careers.
All three Tiger honorees earned Second Team All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference honors this season. Lee finished the year hitting .447 with 63 hits and 19 doubles, breaking school single season records in all three categories. Garcia was one of five Trinity hitters to bat over .400 this season, finishing second on the team with 14 doubles and drawing a team-best 19 walks. Whitacre also batted over .400 and led Trinity in both runs (45) and stolen bases (36) – both of which are now second in school history for a single season.
Under second-year Head Coach
Bailey Wittenauer, Trinity finished with a 32-12 overall record, breaking the school's single season record for victories for the second consecutive year.
The NFCA All-Region awards recognize the nation's most outstanding student-athletes, with selections determined by member head coaches within their respective regions. This year's honors feature 383 players from 170 schools, highlighting the best talent in NCAA Division III softball.
By earning All-Region recognition, Lee, Garcia, and Whitacre now advance for consideration for the prestigious NFCA Division III All-America teams, which will be announced on May 28 at the NCAA Division III Finals banquet in Bloomington, Ill.
