BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After her performance at the NCAA DIII Indoor Championships in Birmingham, AL,
Annabelle Lanik's (Sugar Land, Texas / St. John's) resume is now emboldened with two women's long jump bronze medals in just as many NCAA appearances.
Lanik, who was in second place after her opening jump of 5.82m, jumped a decisive 5.88m in her second jump to secure her spot well clear of fourth place and miles away from fifth place. The sophomore phenom was just 0.03m away from second place, but was a full 0.20m away from the fifth-place finisher.
This finish marks Lanik's second-straight third place NCAA finish in the women's long jump after taking third at the NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships last spring. She is now one of just three Tigers in women's program history with multiple All-American finishes, and one of just two with multiple top-three placements. Only in her second year and with some incredible momentum heading into outdoor season, she stands to etch a formidable place into Trinity history.
Looking Ahead
Bocar Diagana (Edina, Minn. / Edina) will compete in the men's triple jump tomorrow beginning at 11:00 am.
