SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Trinity track and field team was back in action today at the Charles Austin Classic, hosted by Texas State University, posting a host of PRs and mixing up the program's all-time list in the process.
Day 1 Field Results
Rachel Bell (Manvel, Texas / Lutheran South Academy) took sixth in the women's hammer throw with a toss of 42.17m.
Ian Zahner (Thornton, Colo. / Stargate), freshly the school record-holder in the men's hammer throw, took 13th with a mark of 44.13m. He was followed by
Aaron Chang (Fullerton, Calif. / Valley Christian) in 14th with a throw of 41.69m.
Isabella Gaylord (San Antonio, Texas / Reagan) led the Trinity contingent in the women's long jump in 18th with a mark of 4.85m, followed by
Ciandra Carrico (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) in 19th at 4.73m.
Ayoob Ismael (Concord, N.H. / Concord) was fourth in the men's javelin throw with a mark of 47.27m.
Day 2 Track Results
The men's 4x100-meter squad of
Hudson McCulley (Katy, Texas / St. Pius X),
Orie Piken (Torrance, Calif. / West Torrance),
Kris Duggan (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) and
Ryan Forson (Dallas, Texas / Parish Episcopal School) kicked the day off on the track with a fifth-place finish in 42.17.
Gaylord took 12th in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.63. Duggan was 11th in the men's 110-meter hurdles in 14.88.
Brightly Thoning (Homer, Alaska / Homer) set a PR of 59.47 in the women's 400-meter to take ninth, becoming only the third freshman to break 60 seconds in Trinity history. Forson was 10th in the men's 400-meter in a PR of 50.40, while
Jackson Gallagher (Ft. Worth, Texas / Southwest Christian) was 12th in 50.88.
Shifa Daredia (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) took 11th in the women's 100-meter with a time of 12.65, with
Nia Scott (Dickinson, Texas / Dickinson) close behind, taking 12th in 12.91.
Gaylord set a PR of 1:04.12 to take fifth in the women's 400-meter hurdles, making her eighth in program history.
Avery Parvin (San Antonio, Texas / Providence) also set a PR of 1:08.69 for eighth.
Kaleem Howard (Jacksboro, Texas / Jacksboro) was seventh in the men's 400-meter hurdles in 57.83, followed by Duggan in eighth in 57.96.
Halle Hamilton (Craig, Colo. / Moffat County) took fourth in the women's 800-meter with a time of 2:15.85.
Sebastian Langer (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) set a PR of 1:54.19 to take eighth in the men's 800-meter, moving up to fifth on Trinity's all-time list.
Bryce Williams (San Antonio, Texas / Reagan) followed in ninth with a time of 1:55.85.
Daredia was 20th in the women's 200-meter with a time of 25.70. McCulley set a PR of 22.40 in the men's 200-meter to take 15th.
The women's 4x400-meter squad of Hamilton, Gaylord, Thoning and
Lillian Broussard (Houston, Texas / National Christian) took second with a time of 4:02.81.
Josette Gurule (Santa Fe, N.M. / Academy for Technology and the Classics) led the Tigers through in the women's 1500-meter with a SB of 4:43.27.
Ciara Catton (Leander, Texas / Leander) was just behind in a PR of 4:43.29, moving into fifth in program history and becoming the fastest freshman in program history.
Esperanza Vazquez (Houston, Texas / Incarnate Word High School) (15th; 4:52.79) and
Stephanie Suarez (Harlingen, Texas / Harlingen) (19th; 4:54.12) also set PRs on the day.
Jesus Rojas (Houston, Texas / Ridge Point) was first through the line for Trinity in a PR of 4:03.40 for 17th.
Alex Marquez (Leander, Texas / Leander) also set a PR, taking 19th in 4:05.70.
Garrett Machado (Seguin, Texas / Seguin) also set a PR of 4:11.21 for 29th.
In the women's 3000-meter steeple,
Kelsay Edwards (San Antonio, Texas / Communications Arts) finished sixth in 12:15.35 with
Merritt Moore (Round Rock, Texas / Round Rock) next in seventh in 12:44.13, both in their steeple debuts.
Brady Peifer (Odessa, Fla. / Steinbrenner) ducked under 10 minutes in his men's 3000-meter steeple debut, running 9:59.22 for ninth, the fastest freshman time in school history.
Chase Vogler (Allen, Texas / Allen) ran 10:16.61, taking 13th in his debut.
Gianna Keena (Lakeway, Texas / Lake Travis) set a PR of 17:38.93 to take third in the women's 5000-meter to lead a trio of Tigers through the line. She's now sixth in school history.
Emerson Voldan (Arlington, Texas / Mansfield Summit) was fourth in a SB of 17:47.23, while
Anne Snider (Waco, Texas / Live Oak Classical) was fifth in a SB of 18:06.96. In the men's 5000-meters,
Elijah Bliss (Garden Ridge, Texas / Davenport) took sixth in 15:21.08, followed by
George Mikhael (Livermore, Calif. / Granada) in a PR of 15:29.72.
Nathaniel Trevino (San Antonio, Texas / Central Catholic) set a SB of 15:36.93 for ninth.
Day 2 Field Results
Madeleine Seabolt (San Diego, Calif. / Mt. Carmel) was ninth in the women's discus with a SB mark of 38.18m.
John Michael Martin (Allen, Texas / Lovejoy) threw for 46.92m to take eighth in the men's discus.
Sophia Ortiz (Liberty Hill, Texas / Liberty Hill) equaled her SB with a clearance of 1.60m in the women's high jump to take fourth.
Christian Mullaney (Palisade, Colo. / Palisade) set a PR of 1.98m in the men's high jump, moving into fifth in Trinity history. His mark is the best by a freshman in school history.
Chloe McCloskey (La Vernia, Texas / La Vernia) set a PR of 3.45m in the women's pole vault to take eighth and put herself fifth in program history.
Addison Doss (Sugar Land, Texas / Logos Preparatory Academy) also cleared 3.45m to take ninth.
Seabolt was 17th in the women's shot put with a throw of 10.36m. Chang took ninth in the men's shot put with a throw of 13.49m.
