Trinity Softball Returns Home To Take On Sewanee

Trinity Softball returns home to face Sewanee University after winning a series on the road.

The Tigers (20-8-1) came home with two wins and a loss against the Southwestern Pirates last weekend, winning the series. The Tigers rallied in the first game to collect 15 total hits in an 8-3 win against Southwestern. Samantha Tagawa (Agoura Hills, Calif. / Agoura Hills) had a dominant weekend at the plate, hitting .500 with 6 hits in 12 ABs.  Mariana Garcia (Goodyear, Ariz. / Canyon View) was outstanding, hitting .636 with 7 hits in 11 ABs. Hannah Boudreaux (Pearland, Texas / Shadow Creek) and Josephine Koelewyn (Reno, Nev. / Academy for Arts Careers and Technology) each sent a ball flying over the left field wall in the first game, certainly contributing to the Tigers' win. In the circle, Koelewyn was dishing, picking up two more wins to add to her 13-4 win record.

Preview - TIgers vs Tigers

Trinity will return home this week to face the Sewanee Tigers on Saturday, April 18 at 1 PM & 3 PM, and Sunday, April 19 at 12 PM.

On the Sewanee Tigers: Sewanee (12-22 in regular season, 1-11 in SAA) has struggled to come out on top this season. Their only conference win so far this season was against Rhodes College on March 22. Despite this, the Tigers still have 4 hitters batting above .300, and have collected a total of 272 hits so far this season. That being said, defensive errors have been a common occurrence for Sewanee, with 69 so far this season. In the circle, Trinity will face Reagen Huskey, a junior with a 5.38 ERA, Abbie Buckner, a junior with a 4.78 ERA, and Abby Winkler, a freshman with a 6.26 ERA. The staff has given up 118 walks.

On the Horizon

The Trinity Tigers will be home again next weekend, facing Millsaps College on Saturday, April 25, and Sunday, April 26.
