Trinity Track & Field Makes Final Push At Augustana

San Antonio, TEXAS – Three members of the Trinity track and field team will head to Rock Island, Illinois, on May 13 for the Augustana Last Chance Meet. Ending on the final day of the national qualifying window, Augustana is one of DIII's top last-chance meets every year, and the Tigers will hope to capitalize on that to make a final push for a bid to nationals.

Kyle Fix and Sebastian Langer - Men's 800-Meter

Currently ranked 34th in the nation with his time of 1:51.57, Fix is on the cusp of qualifying for nationals in just his sophomore year. After setting an indoor school record of 1:53.24 in the winter, Fix is also eyeing Zach Brush's outdoor school record of 1:51.01, which has stood for 16 years. His time is currently third in school history.

Langer currently ranks 87th nationally with his time of 1:52.82. He returned from injury in the winter to take fourth place at the SAA Outdoor Championships before dipping under 1:53 for the first time at the SMU Invitational. He currently ranks fourth in school history.

The cut-off time for nationals is currently 1:50.99. Last season, the final spot was 1:50.49. Both Fix and Langer will be looking to run on the low end of 1:50 to push for a qualifying bid.

Emerson Voldan - Women's 3000-Meter Steeplechase

Voldan is currently ranked 43rd in the nation with her time of 11:07.07. She picked up her time this past weekend at the Trinity Last Chance Meet, winning by over 40 seconds in her collegiate debut of the event. Such a dominating performance was convincing enough to earn her a trip to Illinois, where she'll enjoy some better competition and the advantage of the race not being her first time in the event.

The cut-off time for nationals is currently 10:45.29. Last season, the final spot was 10:47.81. While she'll be looking to make a push for that qualifying spot, she'll also be looking to improve her placement on Trinity's all-time list, where she currently sits fifth, less than half a second from moving into third. Coach Emily Daum holds the school record of 10:28.31, set in 2008.

Looking Ahead

The Tigers will finish out their season at the DIII NCAA Outdoor National Championships, beginning on May 21 in La Crosse, WI.
