Box Score San Antonio - Trinity's Corey Callahan and Ryan
Gill both earned personal bests in Trinity's Heptathlon-Decathlon
Meet, held at the Trinity Track & Field Stadium on Thursday and
Friday.
Callahan finished with an overall score of 4,091 in the
seven-event women's hepathlon, with all of the competition being
non-Division III opponents. Gill scored 5,860 in the 10-event
men's portion of the meet, finishing ninth overall.
The two Trinity student-athletes posted two of the top scores in
Division III with their performances over the past two days.
Gill now has the third-highest total score in the nation in the
decathlon, while Callahan is the Division III leader in the
heptathlon.
Both Tigers earned high rankings in the Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference in the individual events.
Gill is now the SCAC leader in the high jump, after finishing
fourth in this meet with a mark of 6'02.25" in the event. He
is also fifth in the SCAC in the 400 meter dash, as well as earning
a top 10 finish in several other events over the past two days.
Callahan's long jump of 17'06" is also the best in the SCAC this
season, as she finished fourth in the Trinity Heptathlon-Decathlon
Meet. Additionally, she is now third on the SCAC performance
list in the 200 meter dash.
Trinity is led by Head Coach David Svoboda, and assistant
coaches Marcus Whitehead and Derick Lawrence. The Tigers
return to action next week at the Tiger Relays on Friday, March
30. Some student-athletes may also qualify to compete at the
Texas Relays - hosted by the University of Texas - beginning
Wednesday, March 28.
